Careers & Opportunities

Postdoctoral Study

The CRG uses state of the art technologies to elucidate complex problems in reproduction and genomics. Our current research ranges from pure, theory based projects through to applied research with a focus on improving human health and animal productivity. This diverse research base provides a large number of research opportunities that would suit B.Sc (Hons), Pg.Dip.Sci, M.Sc. or Ph.D students with an interest in genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology and physiology. The CRG has world-class research staff, facilities and strong international collaborations, offering students excellent opportunities to gain a variety of highly pertinent research and technical skills.

Project details can be seen here.

We are interested in receiving expressions of interest from suitably qualified prospective Postdoctoral candidates with an interest in:

  • Reproduction
  • Physiology
  • Genomics
  • Genetics
  • Molecular biology
  • Bioinformatics

Funding

At this time the CRG has no postdoctoral awards of its own, but we welcome enquires from recent graduates seeking Postdoctoral training opportunities that align with the CRG cores interests funded via local (e.g. FRST, AGMARDT, HRC) or international Fellowship schemes. Prospective applicants are encouraged to make contact with Professor Gemmell or other CRG staff early to discuss the potential for the CRG to host them.

Some possible funding sources are:

ISAT Bilateral Research Activities Programme

The Bilateral Research Activities Programme (BRAP) is a part of the International Science and Technology (ISAT) Linkages Fund of the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology. BRAP is a Government funded programme designed to support international science and technology links between New Zealand and the world. There are two calls for applications to BRAP annually.

New Zealand-Japan Bilateral Cooperation Programme

The Ministry of Research, Science and Technology sponsors international bilateral exchange programmes for postdocs and researchers. Information on the New Zealand-Japan Bilateral Coorperation Programme is provided by the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology (MoRST) and by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). See full details.

New Zealand/Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) Programme

The broad purpose of the programme is to foster exchange of researchers between New Zealand and Germany. The focus of this programme changes from year to year. See full details.

Fulbright Awards
